Specular and Reflective Shader Study

This is a WIP of a material study I am working on. I created this using Maya, Mental Ray and After Effects. I used the process outlined by Bertrand Benoit in his process tutorial found here:

Been working on this for an internal piece at Run Studios. I used Maya for modeling and the quarter simulation. Mudbox to sculpt and texture, RealFlow for the water simulation, Maya for lighting and shading everything, Vray for rendering and Fusion for the composite.

Most Recent Phone Model for Run

This is my most recent phone model and animation for Run Studios. 3D phones are becoming my niche I suppose.

Droid Animation for Run Studios

This is part of a two minute animation I got to work on at Run Studios. There were four of us working on the ptoject for a T-Mobile in store display screen. The project took us two weeks. For my part, I created the model of the droid character as well as textured, lit and rigged him. For this shot, I animated the droid on the left.

The other players for this shot were: my buddy Brett "Jesus Murphey" Ciaco animated the left droid. Commander Will "Riker" Hardin created the phone animation. Chris "How'd you do that" Lorance created the particles and did all the After Effects compositing.

This is just a small portion of the whole animation. Hope you like it.

Android Phone Model and Render

Did this model for Run Studios. I have been waiting a few weeks to post this. The phone advertising just went live today, so now I can show it!! The modeling took me about 3 days done in Maya. This shot is lit with standard area lights. Rendered in Mental Ray with Final Gather, of course.

Recent work in Progress

Third Draft:

Second Draft:
First Draft:

Here is my most recent digital painting in progress. Started Saturday morning and have been painting on it off and on. Have spent probably 5 hours total on it. I am following a step by step breakdown in a Bob Ross book called the "Joy of Painting." I think it's the 25th volume.

I am looking for critique on this piece. I am confused on how to get the tree foliage to work right. Also, the transition from the forground to the middleground and the middleground to the background has been very tough so far. Thanks!!

CG Talk Lighting Challenge

This is the newest lighting challenge model from CG Talk. Not a bad model this time. Did the lighting and material work. Still not done by a long shot. But I wanted to post some process work. Feedback is welcome as long as it's positive.
