Book Cover for Gabe

Third Draft:

I put another few hours of work into the book cover. Worked on adding depth to each layer of the piece. Still having a lot of trouble with the middle ground foliage. I feel it took a turn for the worse. But I am liking what I have going for the clouds and I added some texture to the light source so it is not so flat. I have logged about 11 hours on this piece so far.

  1. I actualy like the background alot. I think you should add some more texture to the leaves and try and hide that brush more so it just doesnt look like you used that standard photoshop brush every where. You could also add some more values and contrast to give them more depth, it kind of seems like a flat plane of leaves. The light source could be bightened abit and some of the leaves around it more transparent. That yellow light should be coming through and hitting branches as well and use that to brighten up highlights but dont overpower your focal point (bird). You could also try adding some darker silouetted forground elements for more depth. As for the bird hopefully you used referance, it could use a little reworking anatomy wise. First thing I notice is the feet need to be separated, it looks off as it is, and it would be more accurate to the angle of the bird your looking at.
